Beside The Still Waters

I love the 23rd Psalm. Many people think of it as a Psalm to read when someone dies. I believe that is a good time to read it, but for me it means life now. Let me share with you.

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
When trying times come into my life, I have found the Lord to be enough. I feel blessed to be living on an island where there are lots of beaches. When I go "beside the still waters...He restoreth my soul.." There is something about the sun, the water, the sound of the gentle ocean wave on the rocks that always recharge me. The Lord uses that desire to "restoreth my soul." What an amazing God we have!
